They don’t really clean thoroughly, as you stated in your review. The chemicals help kill germs but they can be harsh on the floors. These steam mops are much more effective and efficient.

I think if you are a good sewer you could certainly attempt to make some pads yourself and save yourself some money by purchasing microfiber and velcroe. For the same cost as supplies to make them yourself there are aftermarket pads available on Ebay, 5 for $29.99. If you want the shark brand you can buy them on Amazon for $15.99 plus $4.99 shipping, they also sell them in stores at Target and Kohls for between $19.99-$29.99 for a 2 pack. Am using old viny floors that needed to be cleaned better than usual. Love this!!! Used soap to get the pad looking new again and wondering if the remaining soap might be a problem if the pad is not rinsed sufficiently. Also, where is the most reasonable place to buy new pads. Or??? Is it possible to make my own pads with a bit of material and sewing machine? Just think extra pads would be nice so that I could save them a wash them all together. Any suggestions?? I am still excited to use mine…Its still at my mother in laws house, waiting for us to pick it up. We had a truck load at X-mas, so had to leave some of the bigger stuff behind, I was so upset. I too, was really excited about the gift. I dont remember what brand I got though..I thought I told you the bissell one b4, but I think it might be the shark. Im excited for her to return from vacation, so I can call her, to tell me the brand. I so want to go pick it up too. Im hoping its the one you have, since you have had great success.
